Do you remember life before podcasts? Yes, is obviously going to be your answer. Podcasts as a medium are still in the first flush of youth compared to other broadcast methods such as TV, Cinema, and its big sister radio… And whilst still considered to be the ‘new kid on the block’, they have been with us now for over 20 years.
I struggle to remember life before podcasts as they provide the soundtrack to so many of my activities now – commuting, cooking, car journeys, walking, or suffering from my latest bout of insomnia. There is always a podcast keeping me company, educating, entertaining, or soothing me. And I am not alone, there are approximately over 20 million people in the UK who listen to podcasts.
So, which podcasts in the UK have the most significant audience numbers?
Edison Research has launched a new Podcast Metrics UK chart that ranks podcast listening based on total weekly audience reach. The list ranks the 25 biggest podcasts and will provide show-level information and network reach statistics.
The top 10 are as follows: –
The top 10
- The Joe Rogan Experience
- The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett
- Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster
- Sh**ged Married Annoyed
- That Peter Crouch Podcast
- The Rest Is Politics
- No Such Thing As A Fish
- Newscast
- The Therapy Crouch
- The Daily
So, if you want to expand & nurture your mind, need a constant companion, change the flavour of everyday life, and make mundane tasks less mindless, can I seriously recommend that you delve into the wonderful world of podcasts?
